In April 2021, while the world was crawling out of the most disruptive pandemic in modern history, many found themselves in a position of uncertainty, fear and pause. It’s always been said that a tree will not grow in a state of comfortability or light and that it is the shade itself that challenges the tree to grow to greater heights. With this philosophy in mind, the founders of Inimitable began the journey towards expansion in an area of Johannesburg known for growth and celebration.

With over 13 years in the wedding industry behind them, Zavion Kotze-Brereton, founder of Zavion Kotze Events Company and co-founder of Inimitable Wedding Venue, along with John Kotze-Brereton embark on their most exciting journey to date; a wedding and accommodation venue like no other in Johannesburg.

STAY, the second venue of the Inimitable Group, offers a completely different look and style to the previous venue. With a continued dedication to excellence in the hospitality sector, it made sense for the Inimitable Group to grow its offering.

a little bit longer...

Christoffel Snyman and Catherina Sophia first arrived in the area of Muldersdrift in 1847. They are important because they were the first couple to get married in Muldersdrift, now, the Wedding Mile of Johannesburg and home to some of the finest wedding venues in South Africa. Christoffel would go on to explore lands further north and has been attributed to be the first European to set eyes on Victoria Falls in 1853, two years before David Livingstone did. Although Livingstone is widely accepted for renaming Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Batonga name for “the smoke that thunders”), the folk of Muldersdrift will always hold dear to the thought that one of our own might have got there first. Returning from his adventures, he brought with him two gifts for his wife; a Mulberry Tree and a creeper bush from Zimbabwe.

The Mulberry Tree and creeper located in the north western side the ceremony area of STAY, are planted in her memory. Originally located at Inimitable, this Mulberry Tree was transported by the Founders from its original home in order to continue its legacy of growth and to spread the roots of love and lifelong dedication that are at the foundation of the Inimitable Group.

By 1890, the portion of land on which STAY in located was used to farm for the community. Gatherings on this land were common due to the close proximity to the original Drift Crossing which played an extensive role in the discovery and transportation of the first Gold deposits, just a few properties over. We continue this tradition of marriage, love, growth and gathering as we launch our new and exciting wedding venue, STAY- by Inimitable.

Located within 29km of Sandton City Centre and only 22km from Fourways, STAY, allows for an easy commute between city and country living. Located 14km from Lanseria International Airport, STAY is never more than a quick drive away for guests from all over South Africa and internationally.

STAY, The brainchild of Zavion, was architecturally created by our qualified architect and very proudly, MD of the Group Company, Cobus Hugo, to mimic both a fingerprint, our nod towards our core philosophy of sustainability; and the topography of the area.

STAY curves gently, not only on its footprint, but in its mood and feel. Showcasing the core elements of stillness; water, earth and wood, this venue brings a sense of calm, peace and love to all who visit. Meander in the grasslands below the The Lounge, explore the textural elements of the Central Mandala or simply take in the views from the landscaped hills and peaks, whist basking in some of the most panoramic sunsets available in the area. Nestle in to the Grand Dusk and Dawn Suites, or take in the views from our 10 Luxury Pool Villas, we ask only that while you visit, you stay present and take the opportunity offered to you, to truly live in the moment.
